BFV 1.1 Lag? Possible Fix

We posted this information on the PlanetBattlefield forums, but one of their admins decided it was not worthy of being on the site. Sure, you can find this information if you dig way down into many different posts, but we put it in the first post for everyone to easily find. Oh well. They dont want you to know, but we do. This is one possible fix for the lag problems experienced in Battlefield Vietnams 1.1 patch.

Add the following to your Battlefield Vietnam/ Mods/ BF Vietnam/ Settings/default.con with a text editor:

Game.soundbuffersize 400 (you can go higher with this if you want to play with it some – some guys have it set as high as 1000, I think I set mine at 400 or 500, I cant remember)

and to the videodefault.con in the same folder change “allowallrefreshrates” from 0 to 1

Battlecraft 1.1 Update SOON!

Just an update on for those curious about the crashes using Battlecraft 1.0 and the new patch of Battlefield Vietnam 1.1.

There is a new release of Battlecraft 1.1 that should be coming out within the next couple of days. It was slated to come out at the same time as the new BFV 1.1, but due to overwhelming workload that the EA testing department is under, it has been delayed for a couple days until EA testing can have a chance to ok it for release. The new release of BFV has a new StandardMesh file format that the current BCV is not programmed to handle. It has been addressed in the new release of BCV 1.1. Here are some other things that have been addressed.

Version 1.1
————————————————-
-Fixed bug with default texture set
-Added support for BFV terrain lightmap generation
-Added support for BFV terrain lightmap merging
-Added support for BFV object lightmap generation
-Added new BFV patch 1.1 vehicle support
-Added support for new BFV 1.1 .SM file format.
-Fixed crash bug when OLM does not complete task.
-Added an include command to the .lst to include other .lst files.
-Added back in support for large maps in BCV.
-Add definition in .cfg to specify executable name.
-Changed RFA compression algorythm. File size should be about 1/2 the size.

Hang in there… its coming.

QuakeCon 2004 Doom III tourny info

From the official QuakeCon website.

The NVIDIA DOOM 3 Inaugural Deathmatch Championship will be based on a lottery system for player selection.

When QuakeCon attendees check-in for the event, until 10:00PM CDT on Thursday, August 12th, they will be asked if they would like to participate in the NVIDIA Doom 3 Deathmatch Championship. If the attendee wishes to participate, their name will be added to the lottery database.

At 10:15PM CDT on Thursday, August 12th, QuakeCon Tournament Officials will randomly select 128 names to compete in the tournament, an additional 42 names will be selected in case of no shows for a total of 170 names. The list of competitors will be posted on the QuakeCon intranet site, and will be available in the tournament area.

Again, selection for this tournament is completely random. Anyone who wishes to participate in the tournament must indicate so when they check-in for the event.

This system will ensure that there is no chance to sell tournament spots, or for any one person to have a larger chance of competing than another.

Photo ID will be required at QuakeCon registration, and at the Doom 3 Deathmatch Championship.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]

Hope to see you in the tourny!!! 🙂

BFV 1.1 Patch Delayed & WWII Mod Screenshots

EA and DICE announced yesterday that they were doing some final tweaking of the Battlefield Vietnam 1.1 Patch and needed to extend their testing period one week as they shake down a new build of the patch. Their only comment on when it would be released was “quite soon”.

To placate those that would otherwise be calling for their heads, they also released some before and after screenies of the upcoming official WWII mod for Battlefield Vietnam. See if you can tell which is which. I know that many people (myself included) are more excited about this mod than about the 1.1 patch itself

Battlefield Pirates Patch Released (0.31)

We have been enjoying (probably too much) The Pirates Mod for Battlefield 1942 over the last few days on the Gamers Radio Server. Now, the Battlefield Pirates Mod Team has released a promised patch for the 0.30 version of the game. The list of fixes from the readme is below, but include correcting one major bug, tweaks to many maps, and entirely new map for high seas mayhem. Visit PlanetBattlefield – Pirates Mod to download the patch.

Read me beta .31

-SkullClan Carpenter now has StoneAxes like he should instead of the PegLeg Throwing Knives.
-Fire delay for both the StoneAxes and Throwing Knives now reduced slightly. Seems there is a problem with the netcode where the delay could end up being so long that you could kill your oponent before you ever saw the knife.
-Shark Frenzies now do 50% more damage. Theyve sharpened their teeth and are now hungrier than ever.

-And the one major bug: In Beta3, you could actually sink a Galleon by slicing an ammo keg about 30 times with your cutlass! Yaar! That thar exploit be no more!

FarCry 1.2 Patch Recalled!

Due to issues reported by many people, the FarCry 1.2 patch has been removed.

“Far Cry patch 1.2 has shown unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations. These matters are mainly due to incompatibilities with several optimisations brought lately to the code, with the intent to please a large number of users.

Were currently asking CRYTEK to work on delivering a new patch as soon as possible. Until then we have decided to remove the patch 1.2 from the official UbiSoft websites.”

Thanks go out to BBF-Pootie for pointing this out to us!

Custom Map – City in the Sewers

In our on going effort to highlight the maps we have in development, we bring you City in the Sewers.

In an attempt to make life difficult for the US, the NVA has sabotaged the sewer system of a major city where the US has a large presence. Dysentery, Malaria and Wild Fever are rampant in the city. Everywhere the US fights is covered in green sewage. Good thing your computer doesnt have smell-a-vision.

Doom3 Reqs

As seen here

The Doom3 Reqs have been released. They are as follows:
• A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500.
• 384 megabytes of memory.
• Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
• An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.

I think most of us must exceed these in order to play BF:V, but for those of you who dont meet these, you have under a month to get ready. Now if only Doom3 had more than 4 slots for multiplayer.
