Tours: No Use For A Name / The Flatliners / Whole Wheat Bread

No Use For A Name will hit the road for a short US tour this July in support of their upcoming greatest hits collection All the Best Songs. The band will tour with new Fat Wreck Chords labelmates the Flatliners as well as Whole Wheat Bread.

All the Best Songs features two previously unreleased tracks and is scheduled for a July 10 release. We brought you the track listing earlier. The band’s last full length was 2005’s Keep Them Confused.

Fall Of The West posts new mp3s from upcoming releases

Fall Of The West Records has put up new songs from two upcoming albums – “Songs” from This Ship Will Burn’s A Fool’s Paradise and “Epic Pt. 1: Rise Of An Empire” from Gator Country’s We’ll Bet Cupcakes. You can also grab a free live performance by Gator Country on the label’s website.

A Fool’s Paradise is FOTW’s first release on vinyl and songs from both releases will eventually be downloadable or streamable for free at the Fall Of The West website.

The Used cancel upcoming touring plans due to singer’s surgery

The Used The Used will be canceling all of their tourdates throughout June and July this summer, including their stint on the Vans Warped Tour. The reason for the sudden cancelation is a node that has developed on singer Bert McCracken’s vocal folds. The singer is expected to make a full recovery “in about five weeks.”

The band is expecting to return to touring in September. The band released Lies for the Liars earlier this year.

Ion Dissonance "Kneel" video

Montreal’s Ion Dissonance has posted a video for their single “Kneel” via YouTube. The video was filmed in the mountains of Santa Clarita, CA by director Andrew DeYoung (Chiodos, Scars Of Tomorrow). Vocalist Kevin McCaughey commented on the locale “The set was previously intended for stunts and special effects. There were flipped over busses, smashed up RV’s and a whole lot of cool props lying around…we were all very pleased and excited with how it came out!!”

The song appears on the band’s recent Abacus full length Minus the Herd.

Near Miss announces hiatus

Near MIss, which consists of two former members of Bigwig, have announced the dreaded “hiatus” in a message on their MySpace page:

the future is hard to tell in general but i think we will plan to play a last show or two with me and josh back in austin sometime after the summer..so we will post something about that as soon as we dial in a date..and who knows maybe a studio record eventually..we all are super tight friends and there are no bad vibes ..out reasons for not playing are beyond our control..

The band released their last record, Testing the Ends of What They’ll Put Up With, last year.

Dropkick Murphys complete new album

The Dropkick Murphys posted an update on their follow up to 2005’s The Warrior’s Code.

Looks like we managed to finish up working on our new album before we jumped on the plane for Germany. Tentatively titled “The Meanest Of Times” we’re getting everything ready for a September release date so please stay tuned for more news and details on that in the coming weeks.

As previously repored the band will hit the road for a slate of US tour dates in August.

Gang Of Four’s Dave Allen among Music Nation judges

Music Nation has launched it’s second season of online music competitions. Over the next 12 weeks a panel of judges and online voters will choose finalists in both rock and hip hop competitions. The winners will walk away with recording contracts from Original Signal Recordings and Epic Records.

Of note is the participation of Dave Allen, bassist for influential post-punk act Gang of Four. He’ll join record executive Andy Gershon 9epic Records, V2 Records) and Gen Art’s Carrie Schupper as a judge on the rock side of things. Said Radio “Roses”

Eric Ozenne’s new band Said Radio has finally debuted some music. You can head to their MySpace page now to check the song “Roses.” You’ll find lyrics there as well.

The Bay Area act features members of the Nerve Agents, Redemption 87 and Ceremony. The band is preparing to release an EP via Mankind Records later this year. They recorded with engineer and producer Andy Ernst who’s worked with just about everyone from that region including Green Day, Rancid, AFI, and Tiger Army.
