Tours: Lucero / Whiskey & Co.

No Idea act Whiskey and Co. have been tapped to provide support for Lucero on the US dates of their upcoming fall tour.

The two bands will kick off the tour on October 10th and stay on the road for one month. Lucero is supporting both their last full length, Rebels, Rogues, & Sworn Brothers, and their recent collaboration with City Mouse, the Stories of City Mouse 7″. Whiskey & Co. released Leaving the Nighlife last year.

A Wilhelm Scream post e-card with new music, new website, new tour dates

A Wilhelm Scream have relaunched their official website and with it posted a new ecard featuring their new. highly anticipated new full length, Career Suicide The album is set for release October 9th. The card features some more new music from the album and you can find it on the splash of their new website.

In addition, some more dates have been announced for the band’s tour with Only Crime and the Swellers.

Tours: Streetlight Manifesto / Suburban Legends / The Stitch Up (ex-Mu330)

With their long-awaited new full length set to drop, Streetlight Manifesto has announced a headlining tour set to keep them on the road in the US until just prior to their December trip to Australia with Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish.

For the tour the band has tapped Suburban Legends and The Stich Up which features Dan Potthast of MU330.

The band’s new record is titled Somewhere In The Between and is due out November 13, 2007. It is the follow-up to Keasbey Nights which was released in 2006.

The Color Fred (Taking Back Sunday) detail upcoming full-length

Equal Vision has revealed details about their upcoming debut from The Color Fred. The group is a side project from former Breaking Pangaea and current Taking Back Sunday guitarist Fred Mascherino.

Mascherino’s previous band released their Phoenix EP through Equal Vision in May of 2003. Fred chose to work with producer Lou Giordano (Sunny Day Real Estate, The Lemonheads) to record Bend To Break, the band’s debut for the label, which is set for release October 30, 2007.

Sonic Youth addresses Starbucks move, describes company as “less evil” than Universal

Many were surprised to hear about Sonic Youth‘s recently announced partnership with Starbucks, with some decrying the move and throwing out the usual “sell out” accusations.

To this, the band’s co-frontperson Kim Gordon has noted: “[Starbucks is] less evil than Universal [Music].”

Universal being the band’s long-running parent label, having released all the band’s music since 1990’s Goo and following their run on SST and Enigma. The album itself will be a “hits” collection, but chosen by a variety of interesting figures including Jeff Tweedy, Beck, Marc Jacobs, Portia de Rossi [of Arrested Development], David Cross, Eddie Vedder and Michelle Williams
