Russian Circles join Suicide Squeeze

Instrumental act Russian Circles have signed to Suicide Squeeze.

In addition to changing labels, the band has experienced a change of members: bassist Colin DeKupier is no longer in the band, and former Botch/current These Arms Are Snakes bassist Brian Cook is temporarily filling the position for recording purposes. Drummer Dave Turncrantz and guitarist Mike Sullivan remain as core members.

The band is currently working with producer Matt Bayles (Minus the Bear, Isis, Mastodon) on the recording of their follow-up to 2006’s Enter on Flameshovel Records. The new full-length is tentatively planned for a release in spring or summer ’08..

Upcoming Bosstones disc due out on Big Rig Records in December

Though the band’s last studio record, A Jackknife To A Swan, was released on SideOneDummy, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones recently announced b-sides and rarities collection will apparently be released on their own Big Rig Records.

The label was formed by the band when they first signed to Mercury Records as an outlet for the vinyl versions of their albums. The major label pressed CDs and cassettes but allowed the band to self-press the vinyl under the imprint. For this collection, the band will apparently be resurrecting the imprint.

Besides rarities, the band will be recording three new songs and recently hit the studio with their own bassist Joe Gittleman acting as producer. The record is titled Medium Rare and is due out December 18, 2007.

Epitaph signs Story of the Year

Story Of The Year Epitaph has announced the signing of Story of the Year. Epitaph boss Brett Gurewitz commented on the signing:

From my first time seeing Story of the Year light up the stage of the tiny Troubadour club like a torch, to soon thereafter seeing them light up every TV screen across America, I always regretted that I hadn’t come across them just a little sooner and perhaps have had the chance to sign them, All I can say is I’m finally redeemed! This is a very big deal for Epitaph.

The popular band released two albums on Maverick Records, 2005’s In the Wake of Determination and 2003’s Page Avenue. The band’s Epitaph debut will see a reunion with Page Avenue producer and Goldfinger frontman John Feldman as well as Elvis Baskette (Chevelle, Escape the Fate).

The debut is set for release in Spring 2008.

Said Radio still together for now, plans MCD release to retail next month

Said Radio, the band featuring members of Redemption 87, Ceremony and The Nerve Agents, will be widely releasing their new album, Tidal Waves and Teeth, in November. The record has been available directly from the band, but will be available in stores through Mankind Records next month.

On a related note, the label is denying rumours that the band has split up. Apparently a brief message appeared on their myspace page to that effect, but it was quickly removed and the band remains together.
