The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have an announced a single performance in Los Angeles on March 1st. The show will be the band’s first appearance in the city in five years.

Joining them on the bill will be Street Dogs and The Pietasters. The show is set to take place at Avalon Hollywood.

April 19th is “Record Store Day”

On Saturday, April 19th, 2008, independent music stores across the United States will celebrate “Record Store Day,” According to a release from the organizers,

On this day, all of these stores will simultaneously link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally.

Plans are underway to set up special events at all of the stores on this day, as well as provide customers with a goodie-bag that promotes new formats, new releases, and exciting information on music, theatrical, and gaming releases.

New Bomb Turks plan one-off show in Austin

New Bomb Turks The great New Bomb Turks have announced a one-off reunion performance in Austin, Texas at Emo’s this coming May. The band explained:

Hey, whaddaya know? An old pal of our’s is throwing a birthday wing-ding down in Austin, TX, on May 17th, and has asked NEW BOMB TURKS to reunite for a night. Only it ain’t no ordinary wing-ding — it’ll also offer reunions of like-minded swamp juice-swillers the QUADRAJETS and SPACE COOKIE. One more surprise rocker bunch may be added. 10 bucks. At our old Austin stomping grounds, Emo’s!!

The band has occasionally reunited over the past few years, playing one or two US shows each year. Their last real tour was a multi-city European jaunt in 2005.

Dine Alone signs Arkells

Dine Alone Records has signed Hamilton, Ontario’s Arkells. The five piece plays soulful, Sprinsteen-informed rock music, sharing definite similarities to the Constantines at times. If that’s your thing (hey, it’s mine) you’ll want to check them out. Dine Alone hasn’t announced any release plans for the group yet, but you can check out a number of songs from the band’s Big Heart, Loose Lips EP at MySpace.
