Mighty Mighty Bosstones join Anti-Flag, Bouncing Souls, Thrice and more at Bamboozle

The Bamboozle festival continues to expand it’s lineup, with confirmation now that the reunited Mighty Mighty Bosstones will appear at the event. They join bands like Anti-Flag, Less Than Jake, the Bouncing Souls, Thrice, Streetlight Manifesto, Saves The Day, From First To Last, Cobra Starship, Chiodos, Aiden, Straylight Run and many more. The two day event takes place on May 3rd and 4th at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, NJ.

Brian Jonestown Massacre returns with “My Bloody Underground” in March

San Francisco’s Brian Jonestown Massacre have announced that their new album, My Bloody Underground will be released on March 31 on band leader Anton Newcombe’s A Records. NME reports that the album was recorded in both Liverpool and Reykjavik last fall.

Last year the band released rough cuts of the new album on their website. It is available for download as either a torrent file or zip archive.

Steve E. Nix and The Cute Lepers LP due out on 1-2-3-4 Go!

1-2-3-4 Go! has announced that they will be pressing the vinyl edition of Steve E. Nix and the Cute Lepers debut full length Can’t Stand Modern Music. Collectors can keep an eye out for a first pressing limited to 1200 copies in a number of colors via the label’s webstore. Interpunk will get a clear vinyl exclusive. The release is expected in stores on February 26th, to be supported by a US tour with the HorrorPops.

There’s no word yet on who will be handling the CD release in the US, but news is expected soon. UK label Damaged Goods is handling the European pressings in both formats. The Cute Lepers features Briefs members Steve E. Nix, Chris B. and Steve Kix as well as members of the Spits, the Girls and the Stuck Ups.

D.O.A. recording with Bob Rock

Vancouver punk legends D.O.A. will hit the studio this month to record a full length in time for their 30th anniversary. The band will work with Bob Rock on the project. The prolific Winnipeg producer grew out of the same scene as D.O.A., producing records from the Pointed Sticks, Young Canadians and Subhumans, before moving on to major releases from mainstream acts like Metallica, the Cult and Motley Crue among others.

The new record will be titled Northern Avenger and released by Joe Shithead Keithley‘s Sudden Death Records. The album should hit stores in Canada in May of 2008, with an August release set for the rest of the world. Songs expected to appear on the record include “Human Bomb,” “Police Brutality,” “Crossfire,” “Devils’ Speedway” and “Donnybrook.” D.O.A.’s current lineup consists of frontman Keithley, along with bassist Randy Rampage and drummer James Hayden.

Hewhocorrupts CEO/Vocalist Leaves, Replacement Announced

The CEO/vocalist of Chicago based band/label/corporate conglomerate Hewhocorrupts Inc., Tony Camaro, has reportedly “fallen victim to a hostile takeover.” He has been replaced by Toney Vast-Binder (7,000 Dying Rats, Harpoon). The band wishes Mr. Camaro “the best of luck in all his future endeavors.”

The first show featuring the new line up will take place on February 6th, 2008 at the Empty Bottle in Chicago at 9:00 PM.

Make Believe plans digital/vinyl release for April, posts music samples

Make Believe has set a release date for their next album. The band, which includes members of Cap’n Jazz, Joan Of Arc and Owls, will be releasing the album digitally and on vinyl through Flameshovel. The record is titled Goin to The Bone Church and is due out April 01, 2008.

It is the follow-up to Shock of Being which was released in 2005 and the band has also posted samples of the album which can be streamed via Imeem.

According to Tim Kinsella who recorded on the album, the “future of the band remains uncertain.”
