The Jam (sans Weller) plan live DVD, new album

According to a Billboard interview, 2/3rd of The Jam have laid out some of their plans for the coming year. Working under the name “From The Jam,” the band is now founding members Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler and new members David Moore and Russell Hastings.

Due first is a live DVD filmed during a December show in London which will likely be released in May. As for new material, Foxton says From The Jam plans to start rehearsing song ideas in April, after the group finishes its early-year tour commitments.

There will be new material, (but) it probably won’t see the light of day until the end of this year. We’ve got a few good ideas kicking around. We’ll see what we come up with. We don’t want to rush it. There’s no pressure from a record label or anybody. It’s a great position to be in.

While the music is not “dissimilar” from the Jam, the two new members are expected to contribute to the new recording as well suggesting some differences from the original band.

After a day of cancellation issues on getting hear we finally make it. First show in Brizzy (Brisbane) was little shaky, but a good time never the less There was about 1400 peeps and they were great. The jet lag started kickin in about midway through the set. I had gone to bed at 1am and woke up around 5:30am wide awake so I knew it was gonna get intersesting later. Kent Jamison and I went out and played 18 holes of golf that day as well so i was really asking to come crashing down at some point. Next we flew to Sydney had our 2nd show of the tour and it was a big improvement from the the previous night. Even the stage banter got a little better which is hard to believe i know, but it did. Tonight i s 2nd Sydney show and its a over 18 show so its gonna a be a Party for sure. Stay tuned.

In other Me First news, the band is continuing with their Square Dance 7″ series and is preparing to release the next installment Jerry on February 19.
