Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion forms group with members of Korn, Limp Bizkit, Faith No More

According to a report from from Headbanger’s Ball, Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion has a new side project. The band also includes bassist Billy Gould (of Faith no More), Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit, Black Light Burns), guitarist Leopold Ross and keyboardist Zach Baird. The band will be led by Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer.

The band is currently recording its debut at Music Grinder Studios in Hollywood, CA, and Monti is mixing. The band’s debut album will come out August 8

No Turning Back set to release new album

Long-running dutch hardcore act No Turning Back have announced plans to release a new album this April. The record is titled Stronger and is due out April 14, 2008. It is the follow-up to Holding On which was released in 2006.

The album was recorded with Dirk Miers at De Studio and Alan Douches at West West Side. Music from the album is expected to surface shortly.

Union Label Group signs The Real Deal (Montreal)

Montreal’s The Real Deal have been signed to Union Label Group. Their new record, Hungover, but Dead Sober will be released via Union 2112 Records on April 22nd. The band had this to say:

Alternative Tentacles announces Amebix re-issue

Alternative Tentacles have announced a re-issue of Amebix‘s early material for the Spiderleg Records imprint. The re-issue will include No Sanctuary, Who’s the Enemy, and Winter. Titled No Sanctuary: The Spiderleg Recordings, the album has been remastered by Jello Biafra and George Horn at Fantasy Studios and will be available as either a digipak CD or LP with bonus 7 inch. This is the first time that these releases will be made available officially available in the last 25 years, and the artwork will be designed by John Yates.

The album is due out May 6th and will contain thirteen tracks.

Torch the Spires, Devon Williams, Beyond the Citadel

Minneapolis, MN based Torch the Spires has posted four songs from their newly recorded demo at their MySpace page. In addition, the band currently has plans to visit Chicago later in the spring to record their debut record with Greg Norman at Electrical Studios.

Devon Williams updated his my space blog with news of a new record, Carefree, which will be released on April 29, 2008 through New York’s Ba Da Bing Records. Williams’ and his crew will join Destroyer on a West coast tour in May, and he mentioned he would be doing a national tour, “which means across the country,” later this year.

Tucson, Arizona’s Beyond the Citadel of Coup de Grâce posted five songs from their upcoming EP Bang! The Whiskey Mask on their MySpace page. The band will be playing their CD release show on March 22nd in Phoenix, Arizona at The Hot Box.

Presidents of the United States of America: ‘These Are the Good Times People’

The Presidents of the United States of America Seattle’s The Presidents of the United States of America have posted a stream of their fifth studio album, entitled These Are The Good Times People. The follow up to 2004’s Love Everybody hits stores on March 11th. The 14 song album will also be the band’s first to feature Andrew McKeag on “guitbass,” taking the spot previously occupied by Dave Dederer. It was recorded with the Fastbacks’ and Young Fresh Fellows’ Kurt Bloch (Robyn Hitchcock, Mudhoney, Les Thugs) and mixed by Martin Feveyear (Screaming Trees, The Epoxies, Amber Pacific).

Contests: Converge

ConvergeTime for a contest! And we will have a few more this week, so be sure to check back. We are starting things off with a contest from Converge, who recently announced their first tour in some time, in continued support of their latest album, No Heroes. The band will be supported on the run by The Red Chord who are supporting Prey for Eyes and Genghis Tron who is supporting their Relapse debut, Board Up the House. Baroness will also appear for the majority of the tour (3/30-4/20), with Coliseum taking their place the last four dates.
