311 begins work on new full length

311 311 have entered the studio to record with producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, The Offspring). The band has not revealed any details about the title or tracks, but have announced plans to spend a lengthier than usual time in the studio with two full recording sessions planned.

The two sessions will bookend the band’s upcoming summer “United Tour” from June 24 to August 16th. The record will hopefully be released in the Spring of 2009.

The Action Design (ex-Tsunami Bomb): “Landmines”

San Francisco’s The Action Design, which features ex-members of Tsunami Bomb, Pipedown and The Rum Diary, have posted a video previewing a number of new tracks from their upcoming debut full length, Never Say. The band has also posted the track “Landmines” and is promising another full track from the album on Thursday at 5pm. The band will be on the Warped Tour this summer.

Mark Hoppus to produce upcoming New Found Glory record

Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and Plus-44 fame has announced that he will be producing the next full length from New Found Glory.

New Found Glory parted ways with their major label last year. Since then, they’ve released the Tip of the Iceberg / Takin’ It Ova! EPs on Bridge 9 Records.

Public Serpents (ex-Choking Victim) plan June release

Public Serpents have set a release date for their debut full length on Tent City Records. The band is the newest project from Skwert (IN-DK, Choking Victim) on vocals, Early Gates on drums (the Ray Gradys), Adam Sixgun playing guitar (Sixgun Radio), Jon Fawkes on the other guitar (The Filaments and Suicide Bid), “Heavy Metal Chris” on bass (American Distress) and “Xray” playing third guitar (Piss Shit Fuck and American Distress).

The record is titled The Feeding Of The Fortune 5000 and is due out June 03, 2008.

Trailer for upcoming 924 Gilman St. documentary

A trailer has been posted for the upcoming Alternative Tentacles-produced documentary about legendary Berkeley venue, 924 Gilman St.. The Scarred Films production has filmmaker Jack Curran taking an 86-minute look at the Berkeley, California, punk venue. The Club is an all-ages, non-profit, collectively organized music and performance venue, now embarking on its 20th year of existence.

Some of those interviewed include: Jello Biafra, Ian MacKaye, Lars Frederickson, Matt Freeman, Dave Scattered and Sweettooth.

Less Than Jake: “Does The Lion City Still Roar?”

Less Than Jake Less Than Jake have posted the first new song from their upcoming album and debut for their own Sleep It Off Records. The record is titled GNV FLA and is due out June 24, 2008. The album was recorded with Matt Allison (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, The Falcon) at Atlas Studios in Chicago.

Mike Park of Plea for Peace wins Myspace Impact Award

Mike Park‘s charity, Plea for Peace, has won the recently announced a MySpace Impact Award. The $10,000 award honors those who make a positive impact on the community at large.

The Plea for Peace Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes the ideas of peace through the power of music. The group believes that all individuals are created equal and through our efforts we hope to create a scene of positive minded people to help bring forth action and education in the process of sharing ideas of peace and practical uses of peace in everyday life.

Mike Park has not yet announced what he plans to do with the money, although one likely investment is his youth center project which has been on the table for some time now. You can visit the Myspace Impact Award profile to view a video of his acceptance of the prize.
