Natural Disasters, Have Nots, Unwelcome Guests

Lansing, MI’s Natural Disasters recently finished up recording with Matt Halliday(Fireworks, Matadors of Shame) and are planning two release shows: Nov. 7th at Mac’s Bar in Lansing, MI with Punchline and a 2nd show Nov. 9th at Skelletones in Grand Rapids, MI with The Flatliners. The 5 song EP is the debut release from Natural Disasters and is likened to bands such as Rise Against, Pennywise and Ignite. You can check out a song on their myspace page.

Boston-based punk/ska group Have Nots have posted two more new tracks. “Frozen Heart” is the second track from their upcoming debut full length, Serf City USA and is available on their myspace page.. “Babylon Daze” is a b-side from the Serf City recording sessions, and is also available as a free download at their purevolume page.

Buffalo’s Unwelcome Guests have announced plans for participate in a four way split 7″ called Dangerous Intersection on Traffic St. Records which will also feature new songs from The Brokedowns, Rational Anthem, and Iron Chic. Traffic St. will also be releasing a split 7″ with Unwelcome Guests and Saint Sweetheart from Florida. You can find some music on their myspace page.

Interviews: Jordan Blilie (Past Lives)

When his old band, Blood Brothers, disbanded in 2007, it didn’t mean Jordan Blilie was through with music. In addition to his side-project, Head Wound City, Blilie enlisted some friends and started up Past Lives. Their album, Strange Symmetry, will be released on October 29 through Suicide Squeeze Records.

The Damned to appear on Late Late Show

The Damned will be appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on October 30th and 31st. The performance is to support the band’s brand new album, So, Who’s Paranoid which is due out digitally on October 28, 2008. The digital release will be followed by a physical release on November 17th in the UK and the 12th of December in the US.

The record follow 2001’s Grave Disorder which was released on Nitro Records.

Rivers Cuomo: “I Want To Take You Home Tonight”

Rumors of a second solo album from Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo have been given more credence through a leaked track, “I Want To Take You Home Tonight.” The record will presumably appear on the forthcoming Alone II: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo, which Amazon lists as due out November 25, 2008.

Let Me Run plan “Meet Me At the Bottom” for January

Let Me Run have announced a release date for their upcoming debut full length. The record is titled Meet Me At The Bottom and is due out January 20, 2009. The album is being released by XOXO Records and has drawn comparisons to bands like Hot Water Music and Jawbreaker.

The band will be performing with the Bouncing Souls during the upcoming Home for the Holidays shows and was one of our Video of the Week selections here on Punknews.org

More on forthcoming Glassjaw album

Tommy Corrigan of Silent Majority and Capital has posted an update on the forthcoming album from Glassjaw. Corrigan works with Glassjaw guitarist and songwriter Justin Beck at MerchDirect and notes:

I for the most part heard a complete Glassjaw CD last winter. It had a latin/spanish music feel to some songs. It had some nice grooves kinda like a massive attack thing going on in some parts. All it needed was vocals.

Beck, for his part, has remained elusive about the contents and release date for the record but has promised a record before the end of the year.

Akimbo More streaming action for you today, this one is the new record from Seattle, WA’s Akimbo. The record is titled Jersey Shores and was released October 21, 2008. The acclaimed band fuses sounds like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and The Who with Black Flag,The Jesus Lizard and The Melvins. The new record is the follow up to Navigating the Bronze which was released in 2007.

Forgive Durden: “Razia’s Shadow: A Musical”

Forgive Durden have posted a full stream of their sophomore full length. The record is titled Razia’s Shadow: A Musical and is due out October 28, 2008. Frontman Thomas Dutton explained the record:

The new record is a musical. […] It was co-written by my brother Paul and features 13 of my good friends.. Casey, Lizzie, Max, Chris, Danny, Brendon, Dan, Greta, Nic, Shawn, Kris, John, and Aaron, to be exact.

The record features members of Say Anything, Saves The Day, Panic At the Disco, The Matches, An Angle, The Hush Sound, Gatsbys American Dream, and many more. The entire affair is narrated by Aaron Weiss of mewithoutYou.

Members of Mest form The Twilight and the Sound

Two members of Mest have resurfaced with a new project, The Twilight and the Sound. The band features Jeremiah Rangel and Matt Lovato from the pop-punk outfit, and describes their influences as The Cure, Deftones, Weezer and Interpol. Sitting out the new project is Matt’s cousin, Tony Lovato who gained some infamy last year after his arrest and eventual release.
