Beware Of Safety post album trailer

Instrumental rock powerhouse Beware Of Safety will be releasing their debut full length, entitled “dogs” through The Mylene Sheath this month. The follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut ep “It Is Curtains” promises to be a much more ambitious outing spreading across 10 tracks and clocking in at over 60 minutes. Preorders will be taken by The Mylene Sheath starting Thursday, Novemebr 13th and wil begin shipping out in early December. This multi-format release will be available as a deluxe gatefold 2xLP or specialy packaged CD in a heavy cardstock gatefold with an 8 page booklet of illustrations by Bodin Sterba.

Strung Out set title, release date for upcoming rarities compilation

Strung Out have set a title and release date for their forthcoming rarities collection. The record is titled Prototypes and Painkillers and is due out February 3, 2009. The album will be the second such compilation from the band who previously compiled material on The Skinny Years: Before We Got Fat in 1998.

The band released their last studio album, Blackhawks Over Los Angeles, in 2007.

Fun Fun Fun Spotlight: Bad Brains

Bad Brains As you may have noticed from the right side bar, we’re sponsoring this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. With the show coming up this weekend, we thought it’d be a good idea to highlight some of the cool bands you can expect to see at the event. First up, is headliner Bad Brains. The band, which formed in 1977, are among those responsible for modern American hardcore and were a key influence for a myriad of bands, not the least of which was Washington DC’s Minor Threat. The band’s founding members reunited last year to release Build a Nation and have been touring around the world ever since.

Outernational: “Eyes on Fire” and “Future Rock”

Political punk/hip hop/ska act Outernational have posted two songs from their forthcoming debut for Warner Bros.. The band is working on their full length for the label with producer Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and will be using drummed Gil Sharone of Dillinger Escape Plan and Fishbone as well as Joe Tomino of Dub Trio and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Franz Nicolay from the Hold Steady/World Inferno Friendship Society announces solo debut

Franz Nicolay, multi-instrumentalist and member of The Hold Steady and World/Inferno Friendship Society, has announced his solo debut. The record is titled Major General and his band features Brian Viglione (Dresden Dolls), Yula Be’eri (ex-World/Inferno), & Jared Scott (Demander). Other guests include Peter Hess (Balkan Beat Box) and lyrics on two songs by Jack Terricloth (World/Inferno).

The record is due out January 13, 2009.

The Bamboozle hints at NOFX, Gorilla Biscuits, Maroon Five, Britney Spears, Sublime?

The Bamboozle has launched a new splash page that hints at some performers for the 2009 edition of the festival. Each of the band/performer names is scrambled, but we were able to “decode” at least these: NOFX, Maroon Five, Gorilla Biscuits, Britney Spears, and Sublime. The latter seems unlikely due to the death of vocalist Bradley Nowell.

My Chemical Romance prep “Three Cheers” vinyl for December

My Chemical Romance have announced plans to release a limited red vinyl pressing of their major label debut and breakthrough album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. Due out December 16, 2008, the pressing follows the band’s limited pressing of The Black Parade.

While the band is currently not touring, members have been keeping busy with a variety of projects. Frontman Gerard Way is gearing up for the potential film treatment of his comic book, The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite. Guitarist Frank Iero’s rock’n’roll/hardcore/punk act Leathermouth most recently signed to Epitaph Records.
