Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy) to write for Rolling Stone

Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy fame has announced plans to join Rolling Stone Magazine’s reviews department. He had this to say:

I’ve been asked to contribute to the Rolling Stone reviews section. Staring next issue, you will be able to read a few record reviews by yours truly. I’ll be doing this as long as they let me. I’ve wanted to review records for Rolling Stone since I was a little kid and it’s rare that in one’s life you get to live your two dream jobs.

His band released Folie รก Deux last year.

Landmines to record EP with Matt Allison

Richmond, VA’s melodic-hardcore retardarlings Landmines have announced some upcoming recording plans. Next month, the band will head to to Chicago to record a new EP with acclaimed producer Matt Allison (Rise Against/Alkaline Trio/Lawrence Arms/Smoke or Fire) at Atlas Studios. Last year the band released their self-titled debut on Paper & Plastick. The new EP, like every other release on the label, will be available only in digital download and vinyl formats.

The band recently reached out on Punknews in search of a new drummer. They are still working on finalizing a permanent replacement, but have acquired a special guest drummer to join them in studio. The only information they’re wishing to disclose is that this mystery guest has a “lot of soul”.

Drummer leaves Punchline

Drummer PJ Caruso has left Punchline. The band made the announcement:

In very sad news, drummer PJ Caruso decided last week to leave Punchline and go his own separate way. It is going to be very hard to not look back and see him beating those drums with all his heart. We will all miss him very much, and wish him the best of luck. We are all still friends, and we’re sure we’ll still be seeing him every day…we just won’t be playing in a band together anymore. The remaining three of us will continue to write, record, and perform music.

Jeff Kopanic (Anti-Flag Warped Tour drummer, Voice In The Wire) will be filling in at our currently scheduled performances. We are excited to play with him as he has been a good friend for a very long time.

The band released Just Say Yes last year. They also recorded a cover of What a Wonderful World” to celebrate Barack Obama’s victory in the 2008 election.

Joby Ford (The Bronx)

The Bronx While this year’s CMJ Music Marathon brought a host of sub par indie rock bands to New York City, it also brought The Bronx. And what this means is if you were one of the lucky ones who made it into the 100 person capacity basement of China Town’s Fontana’s, then you now know what it feels like to have your face melted.

It’s shows like this that make bands like Bad Religion and Social Distortion want to take you out on tour. They’re what makes ex-Guns ‘N’ Roses guitarist, Gilby Clark, want to produce your record. Flat out, they’re what make bands and characters of this caliber, LA’s finest, want to pass the torch.

Guitarist Joby Ford took some time beforehand to discuss what it means to be homeless in the name of music, how much office jobs suck, July 2021
