Broadway Calls set to record at the Blasting Room

Broadway Calls have updated their myspace blog with this update on their upcoming recording plans:

A few of you may be wondering why there are no upcoming shows listed on our page. Well, starting on Tuesday March 10th, we will be heading to Ft. Collins, Colorado, and into the Blasting Room.

There we will be recording our new album with producer Bill Stevenson. For those of you who aren’t familiar, he drums for the Descendants and Only Crime, and has made amazing records with bands like NOFX, Good Riddance, Rise Against, Comeback Kid, Suicide Machines, Descendants, A Wilhelm Scream, MxPx, Lagwagon, The Ataris, Black Flag, and tons more.

Obviously we’re extremely excited. We have close to 20 songs, and we will be choosing the best of those to make our 2nd full length album, which will come out later this year.

The band issued Broadway Calls in 2007.

American Steel wants tattoo photos

Oakland, CA’s American Steel have put out the wire that they are looking for photos of American Steel tattoos that anyone might have to use for the cover art on their next album. Says the group:

My bros, we have decided to have our album artwork be a photo collage of AmSteel tattoos. People have sent pictures or shown us their tattoos over the years and I know there are some pretty sweet ones out there. I haven’t been trying to convince everyone that we should say AS tattoos are good for free admission to our shows for life. Damn logistics and cooler heads and all that. Maybe one day. Until then, be on our album cover.

The band asks that all photos are at least 300 dpi and are sent to [email protected]. The band last released Destroy Their Future in 2007.

Saddle Creek talks about Cursive for $1 promotion

Dream Not Of Today spoke with Jason Kulbel from Saddle Creek Records about their recent $1 per day pricing for the new album from Cursive. On Sunday, the album was priced at $1, and then increased by $1 each day until the official release on March 10, 2009.

Jason explained:

When you have records leak early or have a huge lead time like three months or something before a record comes out, it seems like all the talk is spread out over such a long period of time. So we tried to kick that stud a little bit. It was more about the leaks, for sure. We’ve definitely went out of our way with watermarks and handing out to specific journalists and radio people and things like that before this last Friday. It was more on the leak end, for sure.

Check out the rest of the interview here.
