Nine Inch Nails: “Wish (with Dillinger Escape Plan)”

Nine Inch Nails performed their track, “Wish,” with help from Dillinger Escape Plan live in Adelaide last month. The original song comes from Nine Inch Nail’s 1992 EP, Broken and the song was covered by DEP for their 2006 EP, Plagiarism.

Ghosts and Vodka (members of Capn’ Jazz, owls,Joan of Arc) reunite

Ghosts and Vodka have resurfaced. The band was an instrumental project from guitarist Victor Villareal (ex-Cap’n Jazz), guitarist Sam Zurick (ex-Cap’n Jazz, Joan Of Arc and Make Believe), bassist Erik Bocek (ex-Tetsuo, ex-Joan Of Arc) and drummer Scott Shellhammer (ex-Tetsuo, American Heritage)

The band had this to say:

We just got done having our first practice in 8 years or something like that. Honestly I can’t remember the last time we were all in the same place at the same time. At any rate… It happened. We will keep you posted.

The band split up in 2001 and released Addicts and Drunks posthumously in 2003.

Social Distortion, Bouncing Souls, Comeback Kid, Motorhead at With Full Force

The main lineup has been announced for this summer’s With Full Force festival set to take place July 3-4, 2009 at Flugplatz Roitzschjora in Löbnitz, Germany.. Headliners include Social Distortion, Bouncing Souls, Motörhead, Comeback Kid, Ignite, Suicidal Tendencies and Hatebreed.

Also set to appear are August Burns Red, Bring Me the Horizon, Deadline, Deadlock, Dimmu Borgir, Down, Maroon, No Turning Back, Parkway Drive, Terror, The Red Chord, Walls of Jericho and Warbringer

Ultimate Power Duo: “The New Normal”

Ultimate Power Duo Saskatchewan-based three piece garage punk act Ultimate Power Duo are set to release their new record The New Normal on March 17th. The band recorded with producer David J. Taylor (Despistado, Sylvie, Geoff Berner), crafting a 13 track album that finds the once fairly irreverent band taking a darker turn. It follows up 2006’s We’re In Control Now.

Iggy Pop set to release jazz album based on french book

According to this Pitchfork report, legendary proto-punk Iggy Pop is preparing a jazz album based on the novel, La Possibilité d’une île. Iggy explained (somewhat):

At one point, I just got sick of listening to idiot thugs with guitars banging out crappy music, and I was starting to listen to a lot of New Orleans-era Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton type of jazz. And I’ve always loved quieter ballads as well.

The record is due out May 18th and a preliminary website is available.

Sublime back together with new vocalist?

Looks like last week’s rumoured Sublime “reunion” rumour bore fruit. According to this report, original Sublime members , Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh took to the stage with new a singer and performed under the name Sublime; the first time doing so since May 25th, 1996. The performance took place on February 28th at Cantino Los Tres Hobres in Nevada.

Last year, a slide show on The Bamboozle‘s official website also hinted at a reunion although Sublime effectively dissolved after the death of vocalist Bradley Nowell in May of 1996.

The Phenomenauts anounce member-change, tour dates with Peelander-Z

The Phenomenauts have announced a line-up change along with west-coast tour dates with Peelander-Z, The Punk Group, and Maldroid. “JoeBot 2.0” and “Captain Chreehos” are being replaced by “Leftenant AR-7” on guitar and vocals and human “Chief Nick Wayzar” on the stand up bass.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs push up release due to leaks

Yeah Yeah Yeahs have announced an early release for their upcoming album, It’s Blitz due to a leak. The band explained:

The cat’s out of the bag after IT’S BLITZ! escaped from our clutches into the big bad world last week. Why should some have and some have-not? YYYs have been brimming with nervous excitement in anticipation of releasing this record to the world! Leaks are NO FUN but it’s out of our hands. Can’t help but ask ourselves, “What would the PHILOSOPHER do in times such as these?” We now present PART II of the SNAKESWEAT TRILOGY, Mr. Brian Chase soothing our troubled souls in THE PHILOSOPHER. LUV YYYs

The album will be available digitally on March 9th and 10th in Europe and the US respectively. A physical release is set for March 31, 2009 in the US.

Banner Pilot set to record new album

According to the bands Myspace page, Banner Pilot has set dates to start recording a new album and release this Fall. Bassist Nate had this to say in their latest blog:

So we’re in the process of writing the next album. We’ve got 10 or 11 songs now, at varying degrees of completion, and i have one more that’s basically just a demo on my computer with drum machine drums and stuff. We’re hoping to record in late January or February, but we’ll see. The end result will be 12 new songs.
