Hearing for man accused of manslaughter of Suburban Legends Trombonist

A preliminary hearing for Youn Bum Lee, 41, a former Hyundai executive took place yesterday. Lee is being charged with the hit-and-run death of Ryan Dallas Cook, one of the beloved trombone players in Suburban Legends. The purpose of the hearing was to determine if there is sufficient evidence to take the case to trial or the judge could present a deal to Lee. The band attended the hearing and documented the process online.

A Suburban Legends fansite wrote about the hearing and you can find that here.

Court is expected to reconvene on June 10th at 10am at the Superior Court of California on 700 Civic Center Dr, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

Dillinger Escape Plan join Season Of Mist Records

Dillinger Escape Plan has parted ways with longtime label, Relapse Records. The band spent almost ten years with the label, starting with 1998’s Under the Running Board and ending with 2007’s Ire Works.

They have now signed to Season of Mist Records and formed their own imprint, Phonogetic Records. The band’s guitarist Ben Weinman commented:

It is becoming clear that as the music industry standard continues to morph and change on a daily basis, artistic and operational freedom has become a band’s most valuable asset. 100% free of all previous contractual ties, [we are] in an amazing position to collaborate with some interesting partners which will continue to nurture the ethic that we have been doing our best to stay true to for over 10 years now.

While touring Europe in support of our record Ire Works, I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Berberian, distributor and owner of the independent record label Season of Mist. It quickly became clear that we had very similar ideas about [our] music and its place in the underground. Season of Mist has always been a leader in releasing some of the most extreme and interesting metal and experimental music. We look forward to releasing our next full length effort in association with Season of Mist as the very first chapter of this new journey. Also, Michael’s last name almost spells out Barbarian which Greg was really excited about.
