The A.K.A.s Philadelphia, PA’s The A.K.As – who may or may not be everywhere – have posted a new song from their freshly released debut for Paper + Plastick, Animal Summer. “All Sinners Welcome in the House of The A.K.A.s.” can be heard both at the band’s myspace page and the label’s website (higher quality stream). Digital copies of the record can be purchased at this link, and a vinyl release is expected soon.

Animal Summer follows up Everybody Make Some Noise!, released in 2008.

Face to Face / Pegboy / Polar Bear Club (east coast)

Face to FaceFace to Face will be doing a short east coast tour in September with Pegboy and Polar Bear Club.

The reunited Face to Face mentioned earlier this month they were writing new material and planned to hit the studio in July. Their last proper studio album was 2002’s How to Ruin Everything on Vagrant, though 2005 saw Antagonist‘s release of both the Shoot the Moon collections disc and DVD.

Pegboy broke up in 2000 after releasing Cha-Cha DaMore in 1997, but have been playing sproadic reunion shows in recent years. Polar Bear Club issued Sometimes Things Just Disappear last year on Red Leader, with Chasing Hamburg due out on Bridge Nine September 8th.

Hydra Head streams new Envy / Jesu Spilt and Bergraven full length

Hydra Head Records is now streaming the new split between Envy and Jesu as well as the new full length from Bergraven. Both albums were released earlier this week.

You can find Envy / Jesu here, while Bergraven came be found here. Envy last released a Split [12 inch] with Thursday, and Jesu released Lifeline in 2007.

Ben Barnett (ex-Kind of Like Spitting) to release solo album

Ben Barnett, primary lyricist and songwriter of the now-defunct Kind of Like Spitting, revealed his plans to release a solo album via Barsuk Records in the coming months. Barnett released a tour-only demo titled Songs About Zombies and Trust Issues previously.

Kind of Like Spitting last released a Your Living Room’s All Over Me“>split with Lemuria in 2006.

Brand New: “Gasoline” (live)

A live video of Brand New playing a new song, “Gasoline,” has surfaced. The video is from their June 23rd show at London’s Manchester Academy. The band is currently completing a UK tour with Moneen and Kevin Devine, with some U.S. underplay dates coming up.

The song comes from the band’s long-gestating fourth full-length, which is now rumored for an August/September release. They last issued the acclaimed The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me in 2006.

The Jealous Sound to support Sunny Day Real Estate

The Jealous Sound have been tapped to support Sunny Day Real Estate‘s upcoming fall reunion tour.

According to this blog posting, SDRE and Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel is also writing and recording with the Jealous Sound for their next album.

The band last released the digital Got Friends EP on The Militia Group in 2008.

Bridge Nine posts new Strike Anywhere, Death Before Dishonor, Crime in Stereo songs

Bridge Nine Records has posted a full stream of their new summer sampler. The album features new songs from Strike Anywhere, Death Before Dishonor, Crime in Stereo, Polar Bear Club and more. (Click the first album cover.)

The label is planning a CD and vinyl release for the compilation as well, on recycled packaging to boot. They’re planning on using recycled packaging for every release thence onwards.

Motörhead hits US, Canada this summer

Motörhead British metal pioneers Motörhead are heading to North America this summer to support their latest record Motorizer. The band will kick things off in Minneapolis on August 28th, wrapping things up on September 20th in Austin, TX. Two Canadian stops, Montreal and Toronto, are included on the routing. Reverend Horton Heat and Nashville Pussy will support.
