Guitarist Heath Saraceno to leave Senses Fail

Senses Fail has announced the departure of guitarist Heath Saraceno upon completion of their run on this summer’s Warped Tour. Frontman Buddy Nielsen commented:

There is no ill will on any either side, Heath has just decided it is his time to leave the music business and pursue a career in another field. I think the longer you do this the harder it becomes to leave home for months and months at a time, devote all your life to just one cause and at some point in a musicians life they must decide if this is for them anymore.

We wish Heath the best of luck in all endeavors; he will always be one of our closest and most important friends.

The band released Life Is Not a Waiting Room last year.

Eulogy signs Switchblade Killers

Eulogy Recordings has signed rock’n’roll outfit Switchblade Killers. The band commented:

Part of the reason we went with Eulogy was because we’re not a hardcore band at all. We think the contrast makes for an interesting experience. However being the kind of band we are doesn’t really mix with anything being promoted or supported by dumb scenesters and neon kids anyway so we really don’t care. We are just happy and lucky to be able to make a non trendy record that we love and have a label support us and put it out.

The band’s sound is described as “Black Sabbath, Buck Cherry, Guns N Roses and mix in a small dose of Zeppelin and Skynyrd. ” They are on the Warped Tour this summer.

Story of the Year: “Terrified”

Story Of The Year have posted the video for “Terrified.” The song comes from the band’s 2008 Epitaph Records album, The Black Swan. The band will return to the studio this summer to record their fourth studio album due out in 2010.

The band commented on the album, which is a tribute to the men and women in the armed forces. Vocalist Dan Marsala explained:

“A story of a husband who is off at war, scared of the fact that he might not ever make it home to his wife and family, and a pregnant wife who is left at home, not knowing if she will ever see her husband alive again. It is an extremely touching subject because there are hundreds of thousands of families in America going through this exact scenario as we speak. It has to be one of the most terrifying situations that any family could ever experience.

Every Time I Die respond to drummer departure

Every Time I Die has posted a response to the departure of drummer Mike Novak, saying:

To be honest, it was something we have seen coming for some time now, but were uncertain as to exactly when or how it was going to happen because, as everyone who has ever met him knows, his communication skills leave much to be desired. That being said, he simply didn’t feel the need to talk to us about any problem he was having or discomfort he was experiencing with any situation in particular.

For the past year it has felt like we were playing with a drum machine or a pre recorded backing track. He completely shut off communication with us, contributing only to the band when onstage and opting to take no part in any social activity while on tour or to be present for the filming of our upcoming DVD. Whatever his reasons were, he simply was not a part of us anymore mentally or emotionally.

The person that fills the vacant shoes Ratboy left is going to be more hungry and more intense and bring a renewed energy to the stage, not simply be able learn the songs and repeat them for a half hour every night.

You can find the rest of the statement here.
