DRI planning to tour again beginning in the Fall

Crossover pioneers D.R.I. are currently planning to play some shows starting this fall. The band posted this update:

Thats right. D.R.I. is currently scheduling rehearsals and gearing up to play shows again starting in fall of 2009. We expect to start playing on weekends, then week long mini tours, and eventually being able to tour again spring or summer 2010.

In early 2006 guitarist Spike Cassidy was diagnosed with colon cancer and the band cancelled their touring plans.

Benny Horowitz (Gaslight Anthem)

Gaslight Anthem Gaslight Anthem‘s first two full-length albums and one EP have garnered praise and adulation from nearly all corners and critics. This summer they’re busy headlining tours in the US, as well as playing a handful of festivals. Rob Inderrieden had the chance to sit down with drummer Benny Horrowitz at the Southside Festival in Southern Germany and talk about the whirlwind that has been their career, what he simply can’t live without and what fans can expect from them in the future.

Jello Biafra returns with Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine

Jello Biafra has unveiled a new band called Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine. The band’s other members include Billy Gould (Faith No More), Kimo Ball (Freak Accident), Ralph Spight (Victims Family), and Jon Weiss, and will release their debut entitled The Audacity of Hype on October 20, 2009 through Alternative Tentacles.

Two new songs from the band can be heard at their MySpace page.

Fake Problems cancels four more shows

After canceling the rest of their headlining tour due to a death in the family, and then rescheduling part of the tour, Fake Problems has canceled four shows that were set to happen from August 2-6 in Alabama and Florida. The show on August 7 at Transitions Art Gallery in Tampa is still on, as is the band’s hometown show at South Street City Oven & Grill in Naples, FL on August 8. Shortly after wrapping up these dates, the band will be headed to Europe for shows through October.

The band released It’s Great to Be Alive earlier this year.

Such Gold: “What’s Left of You”

Rochester, NY’s Such Gold have posted a new song from their forthcoming EP, Stand Tall, their debut for Mightier Than Sword Records. The EP is now slated for a September 8, 2009 release and will feature remastered versions of all three tracks from the band’s self-released demo, as well as two new songs.

A new song from the EP entitled “What’s Left Of You” can be heard at the band’s MySpace page.

The band also has a mini-tour lined up with labelmates In The Hollows next month.

EA Sports confirms music lineup for Fall

EA Games have announced the lineup of bands set to be featured in the company’s upcoming lineup of sports games. Among the participating bands are Alexisonfire, Beastie Boys, Cancer Bats, CKY, Dead Prez, Green Day, Helmet, Killswitch Engage, Mastodon, Matt & Kim, Metric, MxPx, Nirvana, Public Enemy, Rage Against The Machine, Rancid, Set Your Goals and System Of A Down.

Their songs (and more than a hundred songs in total) will appear on Madden NFL 10, NBA Live 10, NHL 10 and FIFA 10.
