Ruiner: “Dead Weight”

Ruiner Ruiner have posted a new song. “Dead Weight” comes from the band’s upcoming teaser EP of the same name due out September 8, 2009, and the song will also appear on the band’s upcoming full-length Hell Is Empty which will see the light of day on September 22, 2009. Ruiner will be supporting these releases on the inaugural Bridge Nine Tour alongside labelmates Strike Anywhere, Crime In Stereo and Polar Bear Club.

Cheap Girls detail sophomore full-length

Cheap Girls Lansing, MI power trio Cheap Girls have announced some details about their upcoming second LP. My Roaring 20s is due out October 6, 2009 via Paper and Plastick and will follow up the band’s 2008 debut, Find Me a Drink Home, which was recently remastered and reissued by the band’s new label.

The band has also posted two tracks from the new record; “Hey Hey I’m Worn Out” and “Ft. Lauderdale” can be heard at the their MySpace page.

Hour of the Wolf / Outbreak

Hour of the WolfMaine’s Outbreak and Arizona’s Hour of the Wolf will be touring together as they make their way to and from The Fest in Gainesville, Florida. Hour Of The Wolf will kick things off in their homebase of Prescott in mid October then playing a handful of solo shows before joining up with Outbreak in Allston, MA. After the bands part ways Hour Of The Wolf has further dates scheduled into mid-November.

Chuck Ragan records Daytrotter session

Chuck Ragan Chuck Ragan recently recorded a session for Daytrotter. Included in the set are three songs from his upcoming LP Gold Country, due out September 1, 2009, as well as a cover of the Kingston Trio’s “Coal Tattoo” and a couple of tracks from Ragan’s back catalogue. Check it out here.

Ragan will once again be part of The Revival Tour this fall, along with Jim Ward, Tim Barry, Dave Hause and many others.

The Used plan Twitter listening party

The Used have announced a listening party for their upcoming album, Artwork. The plan is to allow people to listen to the record in exchange for one tweet on the release date, September 1, 2009.

Fans can enter this party by turning their social Twitter updates into digital currency – essentially purchasing a ticket to the event with one tweet by tweeting the suggested message “You can listen to the new @wearetheused album #Artwork today for 24 hours only at http://twitter.theused.net. ONE TWEET GETS YOU IN.

As “trending topics” on Twitter become more popular, this kind of promotion is likely to become more popular, but this is one of the first times a band has done this particular type of deal.
