Members of Gunmoll, Less Than Jake, Anchor Arms form Eight Ghosts

Derron Nuhfer of Gunmoll and Less Than Jake has joined James Austin of Anchor Arms to form Eight Ghosts. The band claims to be influenced by “90’s emo bands” and describes their sound in terms of Get Up kids, Murder City Devils, SDRE, Knapsack, Jimmy Eat World, Mineral, Deftones, Neil Diamond, Screeching Weasel

The band will be releasing their debut through a partnership of Fail Safe Records and Death to False Hope Records. They are currently recording their EP, Heart Conditions and guests include Karl from Greenland is Melting on banjo and Susannah Caviness on percussion.

Say Anything, Saves The Day, Motion City Soundtrack to tour together

According to a Tweet from Max Bemis of Say Anything, his band, Motion City Soundtrack and Saves The Day will be touring together this fall. The news comes on the heels of an update to Saves The Day‘s profile on Vagrant Records official site which lists the band as “alumni” which indicates the band has likely left the label or been dropped.

The band last released Under the Boards. Say Anything issued a self-titled album last year and Motion City Soundtrack made their major label debut this year with My Dinosaur Life.

Wonder Years to reissue “Upsides” through Hopeless

Hopeless Records has revealed that it will be reissuing The Wonder Years‘ 2010 album, The Upsides this Fall. The band spoke to Punktastic about the signing and noted that the album will feature new artwork and 4 new songs – 1 full band, 1 acoustic plus there’ll be an acoustic version of ‘Washington Square Park’ and a re-worked version of ‘Logan Circle’.

Epitaph to release “New Noise, Volume 1” compilation

Epitaph Records has announced their latest compilation since retiring Punk-o-rama in 2006 and just one release of the Unsound compilation that was supposed to replace it. The record is titled New Noise, Volume 1 and is due out June 15, 2010. The comp. will be priced at $2.99 at all digital media stores and physical copies will only be available as a limited edition at this summer’s Vans Warped Tour. The fourteen song compilation will feature music from Veara, Sing It Loud, Our Last Night, Parkway Drive, Set Your Goals, Alkaline Trio, Frank Turner, Off With Their Heads, Street Dogs, New Found Glory, Heartsounds, Every Time I Die, Escape the Fate and I Set My Friends On Fire.

Parkway Drive, Street Dogs and I Set My Friends On Fire will premiere brand new songs, which will be exclusive to the compilation until the release of their new albums.

How To Destroy Angels (Error, NIN) release new, free EP

How to Destroy Angels have released their debut EP as a free download. The band is a new project from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, West Indian Girl frontwoman Mariqueen Maandig and Atticus Ross, who also worked on albums with Bad Religion, Rancid, From First to Last and Zach de la Rocha and was part of the band Error with Brett Gurewitz.

As with previous releases, Reznor has opted self-release the record for free but is offering upgraded versions for a fee ($2) which includes lossless audio and HD videos.
