The Gamits change LP title, to work with Paper and Plastick

The Gamits The upcoming Gamits reunion LP has been given a new title. Originally reported as The Halves and Half Knots, the new album will now be titled Parts and is expected out in October. Also different is that the LP will now be a joint release between Suburban Home Records and Paper and Plastick. P+P owner Vinnie Fiorello had this to say about the band:

“.. Antidote came out and it caused a tidal wave in my music collection. It eclipsed every other cd in its way – I fell in love with the band all over again – it took all the hooks from their previous records and mixed it with tension and depression- all the things mixing in my head at the time. The Gamits always have been a gem among the music i own and when I had the chance to help out with the new record, how could I not jump at the chance to work with a band that has been my soundtrack…”

Once out, Parts will be the Gamits’ first new material since 2004’s Antidote. Check out the cover art here.

Brendan Kelly completes writing solo album, mulls over release plans

Brendan Kelly has posted an update on his solo album on his official blog:

Oh yeah, now’s as good a time as any to mention that I’ve got a record written and I’m just kind of figuring out what to do with it. It’s not TLA, it’s not the Falcon and it’s not really ‘punk’ so much as punk influenced rock, and as such, I’ve got no idea where to put it out or what to do with it. I’ve got the players, but not a ton else. So, here’s your chance, industry mavens who secretly read my blog: sign me up! I’m gonna be huge! Next Brokencyde huge! Beliedat!

Brendan also takes a moment to talk about the recent Brokencyde controversy. Check that out here. One choice bit:

Otherwise reasonable people have gone completely Fred Phelps on Brokencyde, saying things that are vastly, VASTLY inappropriate when talking about a bunch of choads that you don’t know who just make some crappy music that you can turn off or never even turn on. Look, I’m no prude and I’m no Brokencyde apologist or anything. I think they’re a big shitty sack full of smaller sacks of burning, rotten turds, but man, there’s nothing cool about calling an innocent person a child porn connoisseur and/or rapist. It’s so irresponsible and gross and fucked up and my friends, it’s the beginning of the end of free society.

MySpace looks back at NOFX and Underoath’s “feud” from 2006

MySpace has posted a short interview with Fat Mike looking back at his 2006 “feud” with Christian metalcore outfit Underoath. He explained what happened then:

Im not going to make fun of a band if they’re not doing anything. But I met the guys [in Underoath] and I was kind of quizzing them in a friendly way. One of them mentioned that he didn’t believe in dinosaurs. The guitar player mentioned that he didn’t think gay people should be allowed to get married. So I look at it as, ‘I’m on tour with a band of bigots every day. I’m not going to just let people hear your bullshit. I went to the prayer group once and it was really just a bunch of confused kids. They had no idea what they were talking about. They were just trying to figure out life. We don’t have any problems [though]. I mean, they did the smart thing and they didn’t let me bait them. They just kind of took it in stride.

Check out the article here.

Now Available – The Guild II Renaissance

The Guild II Renaissance is now available on Steam and 10% off until August 4th.

For centuries Europe has been dominated by the church and nobility. On the shoulders of ordinary people the servants of god and the noble families justified their power and wealth. This was the incontrovertible, divine world order. A truly dark era?

In the 14th Century the world order is beginning to transform itself. Due to trade and commerce an increasing middle class obtains more and more power and wealth. Entire towns purchase their freedom and more privileges from the nobility. Reading and writing is no longer the domain of the nobility and the clergy and the invention of printing information may eventually be spread everywhere. This is the beginning of the renaissance…
