EnemyTerritory.tv: Season 3 STA and CAL Finals VODs and Wrap Up

Hey folks. GreasedScotsman here. I wanted to let the community know that the VODs for both the Stronger Than All and CyberAthelete Amateur League 6v6 Grand Finals are now online for streaming and download!

STA 6v6 Finals on Ark

CAL 6v6 Finals on Area 22

I also wanted to take a moment to thank the community for all of its support and input over the last year as EnemyTerritory.tv transformed from a rag-tag, seat-of-our-pants operation into something in which I know every staff member is proud and excited to be involved.

Thank you for all of the feedback, suggestions, donations, rants and criticisms that have kept us going strong. ET.tv has been shaped by your input and it seems to me to be a solid community resource. That’s our hope, anyway. By and for the gamers, if you will.

Two Nights of Quake Wars Finals: hubris vs F8 In An Epic Season Finale

EnemyTerritory.tv will be working overtime this week as the two teams to make it into the finals for both the CAL and STA 6v6 leagues are going head-to-head this Wednesday and Thursday night.

Word has it that F8 and hubris are set to begin their grapple for the Stronger Than All title on Ark instead of Area 22 at 9:30pm EST (2:30am GMT) on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Then the following night, Dec. 18, they will meet again for the Cyberathlete Amateur League finals on Area 22 at 9:30pm EST (2:30am GMT).

I’m liking the possibilities here: the victor of STA may wind up as the runner up of CAL… or maybe one team may walk away with all the toys and goodies…. Either way, since it’s hubris and F8, we know we’re in for one crazy, frag-fest of a ride!

Who will be the best of the best? Head over to EnemyTerritory.tv for space’s breakdown and then tune in Wednesday and Thursday night to find out!

(Match times are likely correct but are not confirmed so keep an eye out here for any changes or updates.)

EnemyTerritory.tv to shoutcast the CAL Semi-Finals TONIGHT

The CAL 6v6 Open Semi-finals are happening TONIGHT (Thursday) at 10pm EST (3AM GMT).

With the first semi-finals pairing between h’ and Jerkyboys already decided, that leaves F8 and xR to duke it out for a shot at the title. EnemyTerritory.tv will be there to cover the insanity as it unfolds on Salvage. Whoever wins tonight is going to the big show next week to take on hubris.

Be sure to tune in to the shoutcast and look for EnemyTerritory.tv’s Official TV Server to be online in-game at 10pm EST!

Also, I’ve added the CAL match between GzR and crossbreed to the ET.tv’s VOD and Media Player and updated the Media Player menu listing with the air dates of each broadcast. Enjoy!

Finally, I’d like to thank the academy [b]adman and the Splash Damage guys for trusting me with PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS so that the ET.tv staff can try to keep the community as up-to-date as possible! I’ll be sure to (mis)use this feature as much as possible!

HaptX Mod Lets ETQW Shake Your Right Hand

From the fjords of aptly named Reachin Technologies in Sweden comes a new way to experience Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars. Dubbed HaptX, this technology works in conjunction with the peculiar looking Novint Falcon controller to delivery physical feedback based on what’s happening on screen. The controller is used in place of the more traditional mouse and not only looks like a contraption that fell straight out of a sci-fi movie, but has been getting some rather good reviews from the enthusiast press. A software add-on supporting ETQW is now available free of charge. If you’re completely confused by all this, you can find videos of the thing in action on this page.

We’ve not had a chance to hold hands with the Novint Falcon, but we’re definitely intrigued. If anyone out there has one, please tell us all about it in the comments.

GameRanger Leaps to Windows with Full ETQW Support

GameRanger, the long-time server browser application previously reserved for the Mac, is now available with full Windows support. GameRanger is completely free and currently supports 521 PC titles and 181 games for the Mac, including (naturally) Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars. It also has support for handy things like friends lists, ladders, voice chat, so it’s a neat little tool for keeping track of your mouse and keyboard-wielding peers and harassing them no matter which game they choose to seek refuge in.
