A chronology of every PC D&D computer game

I have been a big fan of D&D Computer Role Playing Games (CRPG) for quite a while. Going all the way back to 1988, when I played the first D&D game, Pool of Radiance. From there I progressed to the first MMORPGs, Neverwinter Nights on AOL and Dark Sun Online on the old Total Entertainment Network (T.E.N.), all the way through some of my favorite games of all time, Biowares incredible Baldurs Gate series. What really amazed me was the number of games that have been released for D&D over the years.

Check out the complete list by clicking Read more…. You might be surprised at how many there are. I bet you recognize a few and probably have even played a few. Continue reading A chronology of every PC D&D computer game

Digital Illusions buys Trauma Studios

It is not very surprising that Trauma Studios would be snatched up quickly by todays game developing companies due to the success of Desert Combat for Battlefield 1942. Digital Illusions has made the jump and has bought Trauma Studios and all rights to Desert Combat as well.

I know that we are looking forward to some great work from them and congratulate them on their success.

“Initially Trauma will work with the development of a concept for a new PC game based on the Battlefield 2 engine.”

Will Madden fumble this year???

I very seldom play console games anymore; however, when it comes down to sport games, that is the only media to use. I think this has been the first year that I was not waiting for the new version of Madden NFL to hit the shelfs, and after seeing this preview/review I am glad I didnt.

I got stuck watching G4TechTV the other day and saw the new ESPN NFL 2K5… All I can say is OMG!!!!! But to find out what all the buzz is, read the full article at G4TechTVs website.

Here is a snippet….

“The hierarchy of console football is a funny thing. When it comes to PS2 decks humming in the back of a tricked-out Escalade, EAs Madden still kicks all comers. But down on the street level, where the rest of us live, a competitor has been building strength for a run at the title. The ESPN NFL franchise from Visual Concepts is an increasingly impressive contender, and with the field dramatically narrowed (no NFL Fever or NFL GameDay this year) this may be the year for the balance to shift.

ATI Releases Catalyst 4.8 Drivers

ATI released version 4.8 of their Catalyst Driver package today. This release introduces an interesting new feature called “Geometry Instancing” which, to quote their release notes:

“This new feature provides assistance when a game has to render many objects where the geometry is highly similar. Geometry Instancing allows the VPU to create multiple objects from a single geometric model, rather than passing an entire new model for each item on the screen. This increases the rendering speed of images such as leaves, or grass. “

Wonder if this will help with Battlefield Vietnam Framerates?

Yes, boobs can be too big.

There has always been a thing for large breasts in games. You see it in Tomb Raider, DOA, Tekken 3, Soul Calibur and several others. While it may not be right [or wrong], it is something that has been going on in the gaming, not to mention comic book, world for a while now.

Well, Kirsten Dunst didnt really favor the fact that her character in the new Spider-Man game was a little large in the upper area.

She is quoted: “I got to approve the video game, the way she looks. They made her boobs gigantic. I was like, Tone down the boobs, please!” It was a little ridiculous.”

Geeks 1, Oasis 0

It appears that the lead singer for Oasis, Liam Gallagher and his body guards got their butts kicked by a group of Computer Salesmen in a German bar. LOL, Am I the only one that sees the humor in that? The article goes on to say that Liam started it. Serves him right for being a cocky rock star. I feel sorry for the body guards. Who would want to hire them after this?
