This story is a little late, but I felt it was important enough to list. If you missed it and you are a fan of Ultima, Ultima Online, Richard Garriott, MMORPGs or even D&D, check it out.
Here is a taste of one of the articles to wet your whistle:
"Late in 1994, Richard Garriott was not a happy visionary. Sitting in Electronic Arts CEO Larry Probsts office, listening to the older mans explanations for why online worlds werent a good investment, he sighed. This was the third time hed been here making the same pitch. He might as well be an arcade game character -- with three lives. This was the last one, at least for this game. He was ready to call it quits. This corporate game was no fun at all."

Blizzard has released a play by play account of an ingame quest for World of Warcraft, along with screen shots. This game looks very impressive and the game play should cater to the casual gamer as well as the power gamer. |

EA just announced their next foray into the MMORPG genre. Read on for the full press release. In addition to the press release, Gamespy had a bunch of screenshots. Looks more like EQ, then UO if you ask me. (Screenshots are gone for some strange reason.) |

I just ran across a great review of Worlds of Warcraft on MMORPGdot.com. It goes into some of the details of the upcoming online game and has some great screenshots. I am a recovering addict from MMORPGs, but this game looks fun enough to make me jump off the wagon.... Get the full scoop here. |

Word has it Sony and Ubisoft have teamed up to bring EverQuest to China. This could be interesting. The Chinese based EQ servers would be independent of the rest of the world. Who knows, it could be the type of influence young Chinese need.... :-) |

OSI announces the next expansion in the 5 year old Ultima Online. This time around, players will be able to make major structural changes to their houses and the long promised Necromancy system will finally be in place, along with the new Paladin class. EverQuest 2 has been offically announced by Sony Online. Currently the game is planned to be released in October of 2003 (however, this is very preliminary, and will most likely change.) The game features a completely new graphics engine (the same engine currently being developed for Star Wars Galaxies) and a many changes from the current EverQuest... |

On the tour front, System of a Down has signed on to Headline the next Ozzfest, playing the last spot right before the Wild Man himself. Trantric is opening for Creed on their current tour. (Take that Travis Meeks!) And Soil is opening for Static-X, which are currently on the road.
