Jay Sinclair (ex-Belvedere) starts label The New Black

Jay Sinclair, former bassist and songwriter of now defunct Canadian punk band Belvedere] has launched a new record label with Darren Ollinger of Calgary alt-rock station x92.9. The label is called The New Black and has a roster which includes the Colin Decker Free Fall, a band that features both label founders as well as other members of Belvedere, Downway and Killing Fields. The band claims an “old school” influence from Minor Threat and D.R.I. The label is also working with a band called the Mad Cowboys.

The label is planning to open offices in December of 2008. The facilities will also house several rehearsal rooms, a small all ages venue and a pre-production studio.
