Patent Issued for Temporary CD/DVD

Holy Shit! You are not going to believe this article I found about a recent patent issued for a process that will allow manufacturers to make a CD or DVD unreadable after a certain amount of time. This is a big deal. It can affect everything from Music, to Movies to Software and I for one do not like it at all. Read more for the full story and post your comments. This pisses me off, how about you? SpectraDisc.com announced Jan. 21 that it has received Patent #6,338,933 for its CD/DVD coating technology, allowing manufacturers to cause CDs and DVDs to become deliberately unreadable after several minutes or weeks. The time-out period is controlled by modifications to the composition of the coating.
