Reverend Horton Heat plans 25th anniversary live DVD

Reverend Horton Heat Long-running rockabilly/psychobilly act Reverend Horton Heat have announced plans to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a newly recorded live DVD. The band will be filming their August 12 show at the Fillmore in San Fransisco with opening acts Splitlip Rayfield and Hillstomp.

The band previously released the live DVD, Reverend Horton Heat: LIVE! and In Color in 2003 and their previous album, Laughin’ and Cryin’ with the Reverend Horton Heat in September of 2009.

Tin Horn Prayer (ex-Blackout Pact, Only Thunder) to release debut LP

Tin Horn Prayer, a new band consisting of ex-members of The Blackout Pact, Only Thunder, Ghost Buffalo and Love Me Destroyer has set a release date for its debut LP, Get Busy Dying. The Denver band will release the 10-song LP via Bermuda Mohawk Productions on Augst 24th, 2010. The band has posted three songs from the new album on its Myspace.

Interviews: Thomas Barnett (Strike Anywhere)

Strike AnywhereOn the grey Vancouver streets of East Hastings and Main, Punknews interviewer Gen Handley had the opportunity to have a curb-side chat with Strike Anywhere frontman Thomas Barnett. In the midst of a tour with Bane, Touché Amoré and Lowtalker, Thomas took some precious pre-performance time to talk about the overall reaction to the band’s most recent album, Iron Front, how his wife is as punk rock as he is and if the band is starting to slow down. Near the end of the interview, they also had an interesting conversation with one of locals and as always, Thomas was his friendly, thoughtful self.

Tours: Maps & Atlases / Laura Stevenson & the Cans / Cults

Just after the release of their debut full length album, Perch Patchwork, on Barsuk Records, Chicago’s Maps & Atlases have announced a string of North East and Canadian tour dates with friends and collaborators Laura Stevenson and the Cans. The tour kicks off next week in Ann Arbor, and will be the first dates for the Cans since the end of Laura’s European tour. Indie-pop Brooklyn duo, Cults joins on all dates.

Tours: Bad Religion / The Bouncing Souls / Off With Their Heads

Bad Religion Bad Religion have fleshed out their upcoming North American tour a little more. Though there’s still a few TBA dates, it looks as though the band will be hitting most areas in the US and a few in Canada, some of them for the first time in years. Many of the shows will feature support from The Bouncing Souls and Off With Their Heads.

The band’s new album, The Dissent of Man, is due out September 28, 2010.

Serious Sam HD: Second Encounter Update Released

Updates to Serious Sam HD: Second Encounter have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

  • Added automatic reconfiguration of menu and HUD on extra wide screens (e.g. ATI Eyefinity).
  • Fixed “FlagThief” achievement not being awarded.
  • Fixed “HeavyWeightChampion” achievement taking much more time to achieve when playing on a server with higher
    framerate (like dedicated servers).
  • Players now drop chainsaw and sniper weapons in deathmatch (and other versus modes).
  • Added workaround for occasional crash inside XAudio2 sound interface when using 5.1 speaker config.
  • Renamed demos would refuse to play back with a “version mismatch” error. Renaming now properly adjusts the
    demo info.
  • Fixed glitching in game overlay menu that happened if scrollbars appeared.
  • Fixed wrong output of player names containing characters ‘<' and '>‘.
  • Updated string input to make it usable via controller. Previously, it was possible to activate the input menu
    via controller but then player had to use keyboad/mouse for exit.

  • Adjusted timing delays for certain puzzles
  • Fixed missing music in Dinky Jungle
  • Fixed music synching issue with the Bone Dance sequence
  • Fixed various music cross-fading issues
  • Addressed Cursor issues when using an XBox360 controller
  • Added intro and outro credits sequences to the Classic version
  • Added acceleration curve to cursor speed
  • Increased volume level of “Classic” Chester
