FarCry 1.2 Patch Recalled!

Due to issues reported by many people, the FarCry 1.2 patch has been removed.

“Far Cry patch 1.2 has shown unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations. These matters are mainly due to incompatibilities with several optimisations brought lately to the code, with the intent to please a large number of users.

Were currently asking CRYTEK to work on delivering a new patch as soon as possible. Until then we have decided to remove the patch 1.2 from the official UbiSoft websites.”

Thanks go out to BBF-Pootie for pointing this out to us!

FarCry – The Way It Was Meant To Be Played

Something unusual happened with the release of the GeForce 6800. Typically, the hardware is released, then the software makers start to take advantage of the new features. Not this time around, at least not with FarCry.

From an article on the Inquirer website, “THE AMAZINGLY good looking game Far Cry has support for the shader model 3.0 but thats currently supported only by Nvidias Geforce 6800 cards.”

In addition, the next generation Unreal engine supports Shaders 3.0.

Bah! Just another reason to buy a new video card. I can see it now. Hello, My name is Atomm and Ive been addicted to Video Cards since 1997 when I pre-paid $240 for the lastest 4mb S3 card. Yes, I am addicted…..

Single Player Demo Modd

Based on ephils review of the FarCry demo, I started reading up on it. I found a few really cool nuggets. There are two more vehicles locked in the single player demo and someone has created a mod to access the Humvee and Hanglider.

There are a few other mods that give you access to more of the island and the best one of all, adds a quicksave function using f5 and a quickload key of f6. This is my biggest complaint for this incredible game and I am glad to see there is a work around. Having to find checkpoints to save a game like this is very frustrating. Lets hope this same mod will work in the final version.

Every single one of these mods can be found at FarCry Arena.
